This continuing wheel class with Ryan McDonald focuses on refining functional forms and developing strong surface techniques. Students will work on creating consistent shapes while improving skills like handle pulling, carving, and working with slips. Emphasis will be placed on efficient throwing—moving clay from the foot into the walls—and building confidence in repetition. Participants will have the special opportunity to fire two cups in the soda kiln at our sister studio Rat City Studios. (They will be glazed at RCC with a special selection of glazes and brought as a group over to RCS before the soda-firing). This class is ideal for students ready to strengthen their fundamentals while adding more intention and character to their work, and for those who want a taste of the soda-kiln!
